Torbjörn Olsson, CEO
In the middle of the First World War, on 1 May 1915, the brothers Ernst and Walfrid founded the company Ernst Petersson & Co at Kanaltorget in Gothenburg. They cooperated with a pulverising company and sold its products, but also a range of other goods, depending on what was available. After the war, the business focused on trading in dyes and chemicals for the textile industry.
In the 1920s the company began producing wood stains for the furniture industry from the powder dyes already in its range. This was later complemented by filler production. In the 1930s the company was awarded the general agency for Sandoz, Basel, and its division for dyes and chemicals for textile, leather and paper.
In 1954 the firm was converted into the limited company Ernst Petersson & Co AB. Ernst Petersson served as CEO. The company was now located at Odinsplatsen 4. His son Mats Erneman, who had worked in the company since the late 1930s, took over in 1959.
Towards the end of the 1960s the laundry-industry products were phased out and the company concentrated on surface-treatment products and accessories for the furniture industry. After 40 years, in 1980 the business moved from Odinsplatsen in Gothenburg to Flöjelbergsgatan in Mölndal. Kjell Erneman (the third generation), who joined the company in 1976, oversaw the move, and in 1982 he took over the company.
When the Sandoz agency ended in 1989, the company moved back to Gothenburg, to Ebbe Lieberathsgatan 29. Operations focused on the wood industry and furniture care. Since 1991 there has also been a subsidiary in Norway.
2001: Certified to FR2000 quality and environmental management system (ISO 9001 & ISO 14000)
2004: Historic change of ownership — Torbjörn Olsson takes over after 19 years with the company
2008: Ernst P. Norge AS is founded, based in Oslo
2015: The company celebrates its 100th anniversary
2017: Relocation to Möbelgatan 5 in Mölndal
